Summer Updates

Well, several weeks have passed since the ACCC championships, and life has gone on for our riding Colonials. It's about time we heard about what everyone is up to:

Dan somehow managed to graduate GW and has been riding, moving, and adding his skills to Bicycle Pro Shop's Alexandria location. He has also been racing, even occasionally as a "bonus member" of NCVC's elite squad in 1/2/3 races.

Sam has gotten her hands on a sweet new bike from BPS. Most of the time, she's been riding or racing - when she's not studying for her summer classes.

Andrew is around DC, racing occasionally and helping set up some kind of certificate program in GW's Department of Health Policy. None of us really understand what he does, but he seems to enjoy it.

John has been racing for a team back home in Jersey and trying to coordinate the GW team's fall recruitment efforts.

Mona is home for the summer (in NJ) and has been eating, working out, and sleeping - but claims she needs to spend more time on her bike.

Scott is now a proud father! He's currently trying to get his legs back after taking a break for that exciting event, and is looking forward to riding the Tour de Cure later this month. We're all looking forward to him showing up to group rides with a kiddie trailer on his bike.

Matt has been home in Jersey and working on GW's race weekend next year, when he's not working at a company which deals with Audi accessories (because he's obsessed.) He is also in the market for a new bike to replace his beat-up Orbea.

Dan L. is studying for bar exams in NY and NJ.

Catherine is still in DC, working and working on her thesis. She's been racing, though she fell victim to the tacks at the now-infamous Leonardtown Crit and has taken some time off to heal. She remains optimistic, especially now that she is finally almost back to normal.

Rich was awarded his Master's and has been racing, though he has been exceedingly busy since he managed a top 10 finish at Poolesville. He fills his time off the bike sending resumes, though he did also move to a new quadrant of the city.

Nick survived 1L year intact and has filled the time while waiting for his actual summer job to start by racing, working at BPS, and going for absurdly long solo rides on weekdays.

Mike has been taking summer classes and trying to get back on the bike.

Alumni Updates:

Seth has been proudly showing off his GW jersey regularly in Egypt.

Bert has been tearing up MABRA - he is halfway to a cat 2 upgrade and is sitting in 2nd in the BAR standings to a guy who has already upgraded.

Hopefully we'll all have some stories to share come fall.

The team also elected new officers:
Matt is president/figurehead/string puller.
Nick is VP/directur sportif.
Catherine and Sam will share the responsibilities of overseeing our small budget.
John is helping set up our recruiting efforts.

As always, the team is excited to have new members in the fall! No experience required!

Keep it real,
GW Cycling

  1. Just because Rich likes trash talking (as do I), I must note that I'm higher on the Cat 3 BAR than he is on the Cat 4 bar.
